Utah Trip

Last fall, Scott and I decided that we wanted to take the kids out to Utah to see Jason play hockey at BYU for his senior year.  This past weekend in January was one of the few weekends where he had back to back games in Provo.   So last Thursday, Scott, and I and the kids and my dad all flew to Salt Lake City from St. Louis to go see Jason play some hockey.  We had a busy trip.  On Friday we took the kids skiing at Sundance.  Nile loved skiing and did really well.  I was watching him come down the mountain and some other moms were asking me if he had been skiing for awhile and if he had lessons.  I told them he had private lessons from his papa.  Claire went down a few times and enjoyed it.  We then went back to the hotel and took the kids swimming at the pool.  Then we went to Jason's hockey game.  Nile was able to warm up with the team.  Lots of my cousins that are living out in Utah came to the game and also my aunt Mardi and uncle Jay and aunt Donna.  Scott's brothers also came to the game.   Then afterwards we went to Village Inn for dinner.
On Saturday, we swam in the pool at hotel and then we took the kids up to the BYU bookstore. We also walked around campus.  Scott and I hadn't visited in a few years so it was fun to see the new buildings.   We decided to go to the BYU basketball game that day.  Sitting next to us in the bleachers were future little cheerleaders and some of the BYU cheerleaders.   Jason took Claire over to the cheerleaders to get a picture since she was in her cheerleading outfit.  She had a blast at the game.   Then we went to Jason' s hockey game.   They won on Saturday night. After the game, we drove up to Idaho during a blizzard to see my grandparents.  It had been about 3 years since I had seen them.
We spent Sunday going to church with my grandparents and then my aunts and uncles and cousins living near by came to visit for a birthday party for Claire.  We had fun visiting with all of our relatives.
On Monday, we drove back to Salt Lake City.  We went to lunch with my aunt and then walked around Temple Square and the Church History Museum.  Then we flew back to St. Louis and then drove back to Kansas City the next day.   It was quite the trip.  We tried to fit in as much as we could.   The kids were happy to get home and back on a schedule but we sure did have a fun time.  Nile is already asking when he can go skiing again.
